James Bond-style book

From elegant suits and iconic watches to glamorous dresses and swimwear that steal the show, James Bond Style explores the timeless fashion of the twenty-five James Bond films, not only that of 007 himself through the ages, but also that of his enemies, his lovers and his colleagues. Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming, who has worked on five James Bond films, wrote the text and captions for the book, as well as contributing to the creative direction and the selection of photographs. The book also includes an introduction by Dylan Jones OBE, editor-in-chief of the London Evening Standard.

The book is organised by Bond in chronological order – namely Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig – with each chapter featuring the actors’ most iconic looks from the films, from *Dr. No* to *No Time To Die*. Furthermore, the book offers in-depth behind-the-scenes accounts from the costume designers who worked on each film, as well as from the designers of the outfits (Donatella Versace, Tom Ford and Jenny Packham), not to mention a host of actors, from Pierce Brosnan to Daniel Craig, including Michelle Yeoh and Grace Jones. These anecdotes reveal the scale of the James Bond-style industry. For example, thirty-three bespoke Tom Ford tuxedos were made for *No Time to Die* in record time (and delivered just twenty-four hours before filming began), whilst in *Quantum of Solace*, Prada created twenty dresses for Olga Kurylenko. As she wore the dress for most of the film, they needed a dress for every stage of the action, from brand new to covered in dust, and everything in between.

And all the most memorable moments are in there, from Ursula Andress emerging from the waves in her famous white bikini, right through to the tributes to that scene: Halle Berry in a bright orange La Perla swimsuit in *Die Another Day*, and, in a completely unexpected and now utterly viral shot, Daniel Craig, also wearing La Perla, on a beach in the Bahamas in *Casino Royale* (one of the swimsuits worn was subsequently sold at auction for £44,450).

Thanks to its previously unpublished sketches, its detailed analysis of fashion and the in-depth research carried out by the series’ official archivist, we can say that no book has ever chronicled the history and significance of fashion in the James Bond franchises quite as well as “James Bond Style”, making this book the ultimate bible of Bond style.
